General

The small towns of Portugal are far from the provincial sadness. Each of them proudly shows its cultural feature to those who visit them.

Our first stop will be in Fatima. About 100 years ago, the villagers witnessed the miracle of Fatima – the apparition of Lady of Fatima. Since then, a non-stop flow of thousands of pilgrims from all over the world visited the site. The white Sanctuary of Fatima, the Crucifix, the huge square, larger than the Saint Peter’s Cathedral Square in Rome – everything here causes an indelible impression.

Then we’ll move to Batalha, the city of Portugal’s military glory. Nowdays the Batalha monastery is a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and one of the “7 Wonders of Portugal”. In the monastery you shouldn’t miss the unfinished chapels – a kind of “open ending” of this architectural monument.

The next stop is the town of Nazare. It is said that the local cliff “citio” offers one of the most gorgeous panoramic views of the Atlantic. The ocean here attracts not only photographers, but also the most experienced surfers. In Nazare surfing world records are set for already several years.

Of cause, we can’t miss one of the loveliest towns of Portugal! Óbidos is mostly famous for its castle of the XII century and cherry liqueur “Ginjinha“. It is also known as the capital of the chocolate and medieval festivals of Portugal.
