General

First, we visit the palace and park ensemble of Queluz with its golden monograms, mirrors and intricate rococo interiors. Adjacent to the palace there’s a park with orange groves, sculptures, fountains and a channel with its edge walls covered with panels of traditional Portuguese 18th century’s tiles known locally as Azulejos.

Then we go to the royal residence in the village of Mafra, near Lisbon. It is a huge multi-purpose complex that includes a palace, a convent of Franciscan monks, infirmary with a pharmaceutical dispensary, the famous library and the Basilica, built in natural colored marble, with its unique ensemble of six organs!

By then, it’s time to add some fun to our tour! Welcome to the tiny Jose Franco museum village, where in a touching and realistic way were recreated almost all Portuguese crafts and national way of life. Here you can try “Pão com chouriço” – traditional bread with sausage.

Last stop before returning to Lisbon is the fishing town of Ericeira, with the fantastic view of the ocean!
